BRITISH COLUMBIA

BC has an active PACE advocacy group. They have launched a website to promote awareness , garner support and promote the adoption of best-practice PACE enabling legislation. (PACE BC) The municipality of Port Moody has passed a council resolution and provided a letter of support for the PACE Canada vision statement. On Sept 27th the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) passed the following resolution "Province of British Columbia work with expert stakeholders with knowledge of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) best practices, including UBCM and FCM, to study the application of PACE in BC and develop PACE enabling legislation for BC Municipalities." This is a big win for PACE in Canada as it sets out a direction and framework which will help ensure that suitable expertise is at the table during the critical drafting of enabling PACE legislation. Existing Canadian PACE legislation is placing significant constraints on the success of the program and ecosystem, and the BC initiative will help avoid those mistakes being repeated.
